Song: Five Little Pumpkins

Traditional song and finger play.

Here's a song for Halloween or a visit to the pumpkin patch!

Five Little Pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,

(hand shows five fingers, move from high to low)

The first one said, “Oh my, it's getting late.”

(change hand to fist with thumb up; a pumpkin)

The second one said, “There are witches in the air,” *

(hand to L shape; a witch flying in the air)

The third one said, “But we don't care.”

(three fingers up, wave back and forth)

The fourth one said, “Let's run and run and run!”

(four fingers up, then turn down and fingers run)

The fifth one said, “I'm ready for some fun!”

(five fingers up, then both hands fly up high)

“Oooooh” went the wind, and out went the lights,

(wave hands in air, clap on “out”)

Then the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

     (roll hands around)

(roll around on the ground like pumpkins!)

*Alternative: The second one said, “There's a chill in the air”
