“What I like about LB curriculum is that it's specific, heart centered, and full of great content. My children soak up the learning so well with all of the integrated learning activities that LB suggests. There's more than enough ideas, so we can pick and choose the ones that go with what our likes/needs are and there's still plenty to occupy us and fill our days with engaging learning experiences. Thanks for all you do,”

“We have thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter math unit. I'm amazed by how much my son has learned. Memorizing math concepts came easily to me in school, but I can now say I understand what is happening when multiplying fractions (portions of portions). I usually got the right answers, but I didn't always understand why. I was really surprised at how strong of a program this was.”

King Arthur Math
In this three-week main lesson you’ll introduce your child to the wonderful world of fractions. This is an exciting step for your fourth grader! In order to make it a positive step, we are going to follow a few key principles of Waldorf-inspired math teaching. In this block we will:
• Take a slow and steady approach
• Begin with hands-on experience with fractions
• Move from concrete understanding to abstract skills
• Engage our students with lively, active, imaginative lessons
In this block we’re laying the foundation for working with fractions by exploring the basic concepts: what fractions are, how they’re expressed, how to compare them, equivalents, and simple addition and subtraction.
There are three major parts to this block (132 pages total):
The main lesson content is focused on introducing basic fraction concepts
.The skills work content is focused on teaching long multiplication, all laid out in step-by-step worksheet format.
The story content is a fresh retelling of the King Arthur legends.
Please download the sample pages to learn more about this block! The sample pages include the block objectives and Lesson 2 from the block, along with pictures and story.

Harry Potter Fractions
In this 4-week main lesson you’ll build on the basic fraction concepts introduced in King Arthur Math. This time lessons are based on the magical world of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
In this block we’ll take up fractions again and really dive into arithmetic! We’ll introduce factors and multiples, prime numbers, creating equivalents, simplifying fractions, adding and subtracting with different denominators, and multiplying fractions. This block is intended to be the final math block of the 4th grade year (but can also be used at the beginning of fifth grade).
Get ready to mix potions, visit Diagon Alley, and confuse the Muggles with your powerful fraction skills!
